The Cowichan area of Vancouver Island is an idyllic setting for recreational
adventures. Lake Cowichan is staging point for visitors to the Carmanah /
Walbran Valleys Rain Forest and Provincial Parks. Which is home to some of the
world’s largest spruce and cedar trees which are centuries old.

Cowichan Lake offers some of Canada’s best fly fishing and water sports. The
Fletcher Challenge Weir marks the headwaters of the Cowichan River, which has
been known as the Fly Fishing Capital of Canada since the early 1900’s. It has
attracted celebrities and even Royalty in search of Dolly Varden, Rainbow,
Cutthroat, Brown Trout, Kokanee and Steelhead.

Lake Cowichan is home to the Western Terminus of the Trans Canada Trail which
stretches 16,000 km across Canada. The 31 km portion in Cowichan winds through
vegetation such as salal, Oregon grape, and Douglas fir and it follows rapids to
the Marie Canyon Trestle, high above this protected heritage river.

There are many hiking trails for all levels of hikers which wined through an
abundance of local flora and fauna.
This property was first developed in the 1920’s as a fishing & hunting
camp attracting guests from all over the world. During this time drift boats
were stored and repaired on the property. In the 1940’s additional cottages were
added and the property became a popular vacation stop for visitors wanting to
get away from it all and to enjoy the great outdoors.
In recent years the great grandson of the original developer has operated the
property as a recreational / waterfront cabin rental. In October of 2007 the
Imagine group purchased the business and is now offering to share this unique
property by providing for sale 12 strata cottages including 120 feet of common
riverfront and dock.
