The renovate kitchen layout is important for ease of movement, counter
space and
storage
the ideal kitchen forms a working triangle from stove to sink to fridge
... the one above incorporates a peninsula with built in dish washer...
built in stove and microwave/exhaust fan.

Renovate counter tops and back splash with porcelain tiles...it is easy
to do and can look spectacular

ceramic tile tools have come down in price and for under $100 dollars
you can outfit yourself like a pro...sliding tile cutter, wet saw, a
good cleanup sponge, a hard rubber trowel for grout application... a
notched trowel for thin set application..also handy to have but not
shown are a pair of nibblers for forming around sinks and tap sets

Start off your renovation with re surfacing the counters and
back splash with good one side 1/4" plywood... note use thin set as
your base and apply it with the grooved trowel
always use spacers for your grout lines.. unless you are a pro...I
always dry fit my ceramics so that I have a
consistent look... some times the narrow tiles will go to the
perimeter...sometimes to the sink... depends on your grout lines and
how square your walls are...there is no right and wrong... just what
you like the best

A high gloss marble or granite tile looks great and cleans up easily,
be careful with the type of grout you use...a sand grout can scratch a
high gloss finish... be gentle when cleaning it off your surface....
when applying grout use the firm rubber trowel and apply it diagonally
across tile edges...pushing the grout firmly into all grout lines...
Follow directions on grout box .. the epoxy grouts can set up quickly
and be hard to clean up especially out of a porous ceramic tile..
